Dilip Kumar was a revered and respected figure in Bollywood and his legacy continues to date. To celebrate his 100th birthday, which falls on December 11, PVR Cinemas and Film Heritage Foundation organised the Hero Of Heroes Film Festival in multiple cities across India. The Mumbai screening of 'Aan' saw a stellar turn out of yesteryear actors and a mix of current and old filmmakers, all expressing their joy and adulation for Dilip saab.
Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu was joined by leading ladies like Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh on the evening. Dilip Kumar and Waheeda Rehman had worked together in multiple movies like Ram Aur Shyam (which is part of the screening list at the film festival), Aadmi and Dil Diya Dard Liya. Asha Parekh though didn't feature alongside Dilip Kumar, she always expressed her desire to work with him. The actresses joined Saira Banu to light the lamp at the event before the screening.
Also present at the event was Divya Dutta, who has admittedly been a huge fan and admirer of both Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. The event was also attended by Poonam Sinha. No surprises there as Poonam's husband Shatrughan Sinha has been an admirer of Dilip Kumar since the beginning of his career. They also worked together in Kranti.
After the Aan screening, the Film Festival is slated to showcase Shakti, where Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan faced off for the first time. Dilip Kumar's Ram Aur Shyam and Devdas are the other movies to be showcased tomorrow.
