​Wajid Khan passes away: Here’s looking back at the music composer’s decade-long bond with Salman Khan

Bollywood music composer Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid fame passed away at the age of 42. The musical duo Sajid-Wajid made their debut in Bollywood in the year 1998 with the Salman Khan and Kajol-starrer ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’. Wajid scored his first music for the song ‘Teri Jawani’ along with Himesh Reshammiya and Jatin Lalit. Since then, Sajid-Wajid collaborated with the superstar for several upbeat numbers. Recently, the duo also worked on Salman's two songs, 'Pyaar Karona' and 'Bhai Bhai'. Here’s looking back at two decade-long relationship of Sajid-Wajid with Salman Khan.

​‘Salman is like a big brother’

In an earlier interview, Wajid also went on to state that he considered Salman like a big brother. He also said that he would consider him like an elder brother all his life. Even calling Salman 'a musical superstar', he had said that Salman had an amazing knack of spotting talent and giving talented people opportunities. He said, “Main Salman bhai ko ek bada bhai maanta hoon, zindagi bhar maanta rahunga kyunki unke andar jo kabiliyat hai hunarmandon ko choose karne ki, bohot kam logon mein dekhi hai maine.”

​Blockbuster musical collaborations

Starting from ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’, Wajid went on to give blockbuster songs in the industry. He worked on Salman’s films like ‘Garv’, ‘Tere Naam’, ‘Tumko Na Bhool Payenge’, ‘Partner’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karoge’ and his ‘Dabangg’ franchise. He also gave playback for Salman’s songs like ‘Mera Hi Jalwa’, ‘Mashallah’ and ‘Do You Wanna Partner’ and ‘Fevicol Se’ among others.

​Salman - A godfather

The musical duo has always praised the superstar for his selfless nature. Wajid even went on to say that they considered Salman as their godfather in the industry. He used to mention Sajid-Wajid on almost every occasion and the duo always considered working with Salman as a learning experience.

​Pyaar Karona and Bhai Bhai

Recently, the musical duo composed two songs for Salman amid the lockdown. His two songs titled ‘Pyaar Karona’ and ‘Bhai Bhai’ which were highly appreciated by fans were composed by the brothers. Their last song ‘Bhai Bhai’ was a special Eid gift for Salman fans which was about brotherhood.
