Wamiqa Gabbi’s critically acclaimed portrayal of Niloufer Qureshi in Jubilee continues to resonate with audiences, and for good reason. Her character, an ambitious courtesan from Lucknow with dreams of stardom in 1940s Bombay, was deeply inspired by legendary actresses from Hindi cinema’s golden age.

A Role Inspired by Cinema’s Legends
“I play the role of Niloufer Qureshi, an aspiring actress through the 1940s and 50s,” Wamiqa explained, as reported by Glam Sham. “My research was completely based on all the actresses from that era, like Madhubala, Nargis, Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rahman, Geeta Bali, Mumtaz, Mala Sinha.” She added that she didn’t want to imitate any one icon, but rather channel their grace and ambition into a unique tribute. The result was a memorable performance that earned widespread acclaim for its poise, depth, and emotional nuance.

Jubilee Season 2: Script in Progress
Fans eagerly awaiting Jubilee Season 2 got a small but significant update from Wamiqa herself.During promotions for her upcoming rom-com Bhool Chuk Maaf, she shared: “I think it’s in writing. I only know this much. I have no idea what they are writing. I am also waiting to know more.” While her comments suggest that production and casting are still pending, the news that the script is underway has reignited excitement among fans of the vintage-set drama. Created by Vikramaditya Motwane, Jubilee starred Prosenjit Chatterjee, Sidhant Gupta, Aparshakti Khurana, and Aditi Rao Hydari, and was praised for its intricate storytelling and rich period detailing.

As Jubilee Season 2 remains in development, Wamiqa Gabbi is gearing up for the release of her next project, 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', a romantic comedy with Rajkummar Rao.

Set to stream on OTT from May 16, 2025, the Karan Sharma-directed film revolves around a couple caught in a quirky time loop on the day of their haldi ceremony. While her previous film Baby John with Varun Dhawan had a lukewarm box office response, Wamiqa’s performance stood out, reaffirming her status as a versatile performer to watch.
