Was Radhika Merchant's speech to Anant Ambani at pre-wedding inspired from 20-year-old Hollywood film 'Shall We Dance'?

Radhika Merchant melted hearts with her romantic speech to her husband-to-be Anant Ambani at their pre-wedding celebrations at Jamnagar last weekend. Her emotional words, about finding a life partner not only struck a chord with her guests, but also with the internet.

After delivering a touching note of thanks to her family, her in-laws and the beauty turned to her man and began, "Someone once told me, 'What do you really find when you find a partner?'"


She said, "What you find is someone to witness your life. There are over a billion people on this earth, and what does one life really mean? But when you find somebody, you find someone to promise you to care about everything... the good, the bad, beautiful, brave, sad, or mundane. You say, 'I will see you every day. Your life will not go unnoticed, because I will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed, because I will witness it."

Turning to Anant, she added, "I am so blessed to be a witness to your beautiful life."


However, days after the speech, netizens seemed to have found the inspiration behind the romantic speech. Videos doing the rounds online, indicate that Radhika's speech has some similarities with Susan Saradon's moving monologue in the 2004 Hollywood film 'Shall We Dance?'



The film sees Susan starring alongside Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez. The rom-com which explores themes of fulfilment, love and relationships, follows an overworked Estate Lawyer, who signs up for ballroom dancing lessons.

Radhika and Anant's pre-wedding celebrations were a week-long affair. After playing host to businessmen, billionaires, celebrities and royalty, the couple hosted parties for their staff and employees to join in the festivities. It will, however, be a few months till the bride and groom take the plunge in a grand ceremony on July 12, 2024.
