The incident occurred when Rekha Bhardwaj was performing the classic ‘Lambi Judai.’ Just as the mood was setting in and the audience was engrossed in her emotive delivery, loud fireworks began going off near the venue, disrupting the performance. Visibly disturbed, Rekha paused mid-song, closed her eyes, and allowed the noise to subside before addressing the disruption.
In the video, she is heard calmly saying, “Yeh patakkhe bohut unmusical hai. Bohut galat waqt pe gaye hai,” calling the fireworks not only untimely but also musically jarring. She further addressed the organizers directly, requesting that such interruptions not be repeated, especially during a delicate live performance where ambiance and timing are crucial. She said to the organizers, “Can we please stop this?” Then she resumed her song.
