When Dimple Kapadia slammed people for doubting Rajesh Khanna’s avoidance of her in his Rs 600 crore will: 'Don’t you dare try to extract nasty...'
Rajesh Khanna held a magnetic charm that captivated millions, especially his female admirers. Some even expressed their adoration in dramatic gestures, like writing him letters in blood or symbolically marrying his photograph. In 1973, his female fans were shocked to hear about Rajesh Khanna’s marriage to 16-year-old debutante Dimple Kapadia. The couple went on to become parents to two daughters—Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna. After his demise, a major news story made it to the front seat about the absence of Dimple’s name from his will. But Dimple had a savage reply for those concerns.
Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia's marriage life
After nearly a decade together, Dimple and Rajesh drifted apart and separated in 1982. Though they never divorced, their relationship had reached its end. Dimple eventually moved out in 1984, later acknowledging that marrying a superstar had not been the fairy tale she had envisioned.
Rajesh Khanna’s once-unstoppable career began to slow down. The actor reportedly found it difficult to cope with the decline in stardom, with several of his films not faring well at the box office during the late 70s and 80s. This phase took a toll on his personal life as well. Dimple tried to hold their relationship together but eventually accepted its fate.
Rajesh Khanna's alleged live-in partner
Before his marriage to Dimple, Rajesh had been in a steady relationship with actress Anju Mahendru. Though the relationship ended, it was a significant part of his early personal life. Rajesh was enjoying his solitude after his separation from Dimple, but a new controversy emerged during that period.
Anita Advani, who claimed to have been Rajesh Khanna’s live-in partner during his final years, stirred headlines when she asserted her right to his estate. Referring to herself as his "surrogate wife", Anita insisted she had cared for the ailing actor, looked after his household, and even observed Karwa Chauth fasts for him. She claimed that her role in his life was not just emotional but also legal, and she sought a share of his property.
Rajesh Khanna's demise
Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18, 2012, after battling cancer. A month prior to his death, he had reportedly prepared and signed his will. At the time of his death, his estate was estimated to be around Rs 600 crores, including his legendary sea-facing bungalow Aashirwad.

However, his entire wealth was bequeathed solely to his daughters, Twinkle and Rinke. Not a share was allotted to Dimple, and it raised questions from media circles and among fans. Dimple has always spoken of Rajesh with great respect. In a 2017 interview, she recalled: “Kaka (Rajesh Khanna) has been consistently misunderstood. He’s a wonderful guy. I was far too young and impetuous when we married. We may have separated, but I still have tremendous regard and love for him. So don’t you dare try to extract any nasty statements from me. Kaka’s superstardom had to be experienced to be believed.”
