Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film
Why Cheat India
delves into our flawed
education system
and highlights the issues that need to be reformed. Speaking about the film and drawing parallels to his personal life, Emraan admitted, “Yes, I have cheated. I have copied my entire Economics paper and I passed with flying colours. My cousins used to mock me suggesting that I would fail, so I knew the value of those marks. I remember the exam invigilator at the centre in Bandra saying, ‘Pressure bohot hai aap bachchon pe. Economics ka paper difficult hai. Aapke paas 40 minutes hain. Books kholiye, copy kijiye. Koi aayega toh meri responsibility nahi hogi. Jo bhi karna hai, jaldi kijiye’. I scored 70 per cent on that paper. Everyone has had those times where they have been guilty of sourcing the question paper or buying a mark sheet. I don’t endorse it, but people have done it owing to circumstances or whatever.”
