'When I come after marriage, I’ll bring one set of clothes'; Anil Kapoor says Sunita gave him only his wedding ring
Anil Kapoor fondly reflected on the early days of his marriage to Sunita, appreciating her unwavering independence and confidence. He recounted how Sunita embraced her identity as a homemaker with joy, opting not to accept valuable gifts from her parents, which illustrated her commitment to building a life with Anil based on mutual respect and shared responsibility.
Last year, Anil Kapoor entered into nostalgia mode, as if he were opening a family album in front of a room and letting the memories speak for themselves. When reflecting on his early marriage to Sunita Kapoor, he discussed the basic choices that gradually lay the groundwork for a relationship over time. At an event in Jaipur last year, he described Sunita as someone who understood who she was and had the confidence to ensure that everyone else did as well.

A look back on the first several years

Anil discussed Sunita's unwavering belief that love should never be confused with responsibility at the FICCI FLO Jaipur Chapter last year. He made it plain that she chose to stay at home with the kids, not because she wanted to please him or meet anybody else's expectations. The actor recalls her responding, "I'm not doing it for you." This is for me. I care for myself, not for you. He stated she would repeat it so there was no confusion: "Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing it for myself."Sunita appreciated the space beautifully, which was not set up for visitors or photographs. Anil stated that he initially did not notice her efforts but then discovered how persistently she created that warmth for her personal satisfaction.

Wedding decisions that set the mood

Anil also mentioned an incident before their wedding that, in his opinion, demonstrated Sunita's independence in one plain remark. Sunita, who was working at the time, made it clear that she would not bring valuables from her parents when they married. "When I come to your place after we marry, I will carry only one set of clothes. I will not bring any jewelery." He remembers adding, "Whatever it is, you will have to buy it for me." Anil went on to say that Sunita just gave him his wedding ring.
