When Imran Khan chose HOT shower and SLEEP over GOLD phone at a Dubai event, he said, "I want a drink..."
Imran Khan chose a hot shower and sleep over a gold iPhone. Bollywood loves showy success signs, but this shows his views on money, special treatment, and fame. In a new interview, he corrected misconceptions about his past. In 2008, when he started films, people called him a "silver spoon" star kid because of his family name and Aamir Khan link, but the real story was more complicated.
On the Unfiltered by Samdish podcast, Imran set the facts straight: his link to Aamir brought no share of the superstar's riches. He stated firmly, “He is my mom’s cousin brother. That’s not my money. That’s not coming to me." Outsiders might have seen him as well-off, but he emphasized his money matters were always distinct from his relative's triumphs.
The actor recalled a memorable incident from a grueling Dubai promo stint on the podcast. Exhausted from back-to-back interviews with a dawn flight to London looming, his manager pitched an enticing offer: “This one time I was in Dubai for a promotional event. I kept on doing interviews the whole time. By evening, I was extremely tired. And the next day, I was supposed to catch a flight to London. I was preparing to sleep when my manager came to me and said, "Sir, in this mall, there is an opening for a jewelry shop; if you do the ribbon-cutting ceremony, they will give you a gold iPhone." Imran turned it down flat. “I said, ‘No, thank you. You keep the gold iPhone; I need a hot shower, and I want a drink and a good night's sleep." Later, a far wealthier actor stepped in to snag the gold iPhone.
Imran opened up about his biggest career paycheck: Rs 12 crore for a film he didn't name. Yet, at the wrap-up, the sum lost its shine. He reflected, “I remember thinking, ‘Take this Rs 12 crore and give me my six months of life back,’" adding that his wealth now trails what it was 10 years prior—after quitting movies, a near-decade jobless stretch, and a divorce asset split. Nevertheless, he noted, "Even today, I am at a place where I haven't worked for 10 years, and I am still not stressed about paying my bills."
