When Abhishek Bachchan called Simi Garewal aunty

In 2003, Abhishek Bachchan appeared as a guest on Simi Garewal’s talk show. During his appearance, when he was asked to say something for the sound check, he literally said ‘something.’ Not just this, confused on how to address Simi Garewal; he called her ‘aunty.’


All this unfolded behind the camera, and the BTS clip of the same was shared by Simi on her social media handle a couple of years back. In the video, when Abhishek caught everyone by surprise with his soundcheck reply, he asked, “Do you need something more substantial than that?"

Thereafter, when asked to say a few lines, he continued, "Hi. I'm Abhishek Bachchan, and you're watching," and then took a pause to look for the name of the show. The host jumped in to help, said, "Rendezvous with Simi Garewal," and Abhishek quickly completed his sentence, "Rendezvous with Simi aunty".

"No, you're not going to 'aunty' me," said Simi. Confused, Abhishek asked her, "What do I call you? Oprah (Winfrey)."

His antics didn’t end here. While on a roll, Abhishek imitated his dad’s famous lines from his show ‘KBC’. "Aayie aap aur hum khelte hai Kaun Banega Crorepati (Let's play Kaun Banega Crorepati)," he laughed and then said, “I think I'm gonna be thrown out before the interview.”
