When Somy Ali wanted to marry Salman Khan, but broke up due to THIS reason
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has captivated audiences since his first big role in 'Maine Pyar Kiya' in 1989. Among his many fans was Somy Ali, who later became his girlfriend. Their relationship, which reportedly spanned from 1991 to 1999, has been a topic of intrigue for fans.
Somy Ali's admiration for Salman blossomed, when she was just 16 years old. After watching 'Maine Pyar Kiya,' she felt an instant connection and dreamt of marrying him immediately! This infatuation led her to move from the United States to India, where she hoped to pursue her dreams in Bollywood. “I kept Salman’s photo in my wallet. By the time I reached here, his 'Baaghi' had released, and Salman was already a megastar,” she recounted in a past interview with the Free Press Journal.
Upon arriving in India, Somy eventually entered the film industry and even worked on a project with Salman, which ultimately did not see the light of day. During a trip to Nepal together, she boldly expressed her feelings by showing him her cherished photograph and declaring, “I have come all the way to marry you!” Salman’s response was that he had a girlfriend at the time, but their relationship began shortly after when he professed his love for her.
Reflecting on her time with Salman, Somy had emphasized the invaluable lessons she gained from his family. “I learned a lot from his parents and household,” she stated. However, despite these positive experiences, Somy ultimately decided to end their relationship. She realized that happiness is paramount in any partnership: “Ultimately, in any relationship, if you are not happy, it’s better to part ways. That was the case of the relationship between Salman and me. I decided to go back to America.”
After ending her relationship with Salman in 1999, Somy Ali relocated to the US, where she has dedicated herself to advocacy work. She founded the non-profit organization, which focuses on supporting victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, helping them rebuild their lives through various resources and assistance.
