Why John Abraham flaunts multiple looks in RAW…

A spy is like a shape-shifter. He changes his looks while trying to hide his real identity and gather information that can aid the country’s security measures. John Abraham, who plays a spy in the espionage drama set in the period between 1965 and 1971, has donned over a dozen different looks for the character. When we met director Robbie Grewal and asked him about it, he told us, “That was part of the script. It wasn’t to get a PR punch for the film. The script hasn’t moved a spec from what was narrated to John, Mouni Roy and other actors in the film. Yes, there are times when producers think of adding something to a script if it can help promote the film. But there was no such thing here. Having that many looks was always part of the plan.”

Apart from multiple looks, the film also holds a record of sorts for being shot in just 46 days across 12 cities and 90 different locations. Robbie beams, “It was crazy planning all of this but I have to give it to my production designers for pulling this off. Including travel time, we wrapped up so much work in such little time. It feels unreal. We worked in such a manner that while I shot at location one, my team was ready with location two, three and four, so we could avoid wastage of time. Any delay, any mistake here could have cost us but my team pulled it off seamlessly. You can’t get this far without clarity and team effort.”
