‘You gave us so little time’: Raj Babbar’s emotional tribute to Smita Patil on her death anniversary

Actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar marked the death anniversary of his late wife, legendary actress Smita Patil, with an emotional tribute.

Remembering Smita on her Punyatithi, Babbar shared a throwback photograph and penned a heartfelt note on Instagram.

In his note, Raj Babbar said that Smita Patil’s greatness as an actor stemmed from who she was as a person. “What made #SmitaPatil a truly great actor was the same quality that defined her off-screen – she was extraordinarily good,” he wrote.

He added that her deep empathy allowed her to portray the struggles of common people with honesty and power. According to Babbar, this sensitivity helped her turn even simple narratives into “soul-stirring anthems for justice.”

Raj Babbar’s words further read, “She graced us for so little time, yet countless hearts still resonate with her essence,” he wrote. In another moving line, he added, “You gave us so little time to know you. This mystery shall forever remain unexplained. Remembering Smita on her Punyatithi.”
