Assam DSP and Zubeen Garg's cousin, Sandipan Garg, was arrested in connection with the singer's death and sent to 7-day police custody by the Kamrup District High Court. Last week, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continued to question him. Sandipan Garg was present at a yacht party on September 19 when singer Zubeen Garg drowned.

Court grants 7 days' custody despite a 14-day request

As per IANS, CID Special DGP M. P. Gupta told reporters, “We have sought 14 days of custody for Chandigarh. But the court has granted 7 days of custody. We cannot share further details as the investigation is still ongoing." Gupta said that Roop Kamal Kalita, who lives in Singapore, has appeared before the SIT for the second day and is ready to send fresh charges to other NRIs who were at the yacht party.

The SIT, formed under the orders of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, has already arrested four people before the junction in Garg to ensure a thorough and timely investigation. On October 1, Zubeen Garg's manager Siddharth Sharma and music festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta were arrested. Later, Zubeen Garg's instrumentalist Sahar Jyoti Kochwami and singer Amrit Prabha Mahanta were sent to 14-day custody for questioning.
