7 major records Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' broke within few days of its release

Highest Opening Day Collection of 2016

The highest opening day collection in 2016 was of Salman Khan starrer 'Sultan' until 'Kabali' hit the silver screens. The film has collected as much as Rs 53 crore gross which is a tremendous figure in itself as far as day one collection goes. Not just that, even its nett collection was as high as Rs 44 crore approx according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. This is the highest ever NETT collection ever seen for the first day in India.

Smashed All Indian Film Records Overseas

Kabali's Tamil version has broken all the records overseas with its impactful first day collection and victorious numbers in the succeeding days. The previous record was held by 'Dhoom 3' at $10.32 million but 'Kabali' has gone through that comfortably. The film has grossed $4.05 million is the US / Canada which is in four days but for comparison, the three-day figure of $3.51 million is taken. This is the second highest figure ever in the US / Canada after 'PK' which was slightly better at $3.55 million, according to BoxOfficeIndia.

Beats Sultan's First-Day Collection

This, without a doubt, was something that may have come as a shock to Salman Khan's fans. Rajinikanth's film smashed Sultan's first day collection with a huge margin. The film that raked as much as Rs 44 crore nett has become the highest grossing film of all time. However, the highest first day opener record still lies with Salman with his film 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' raking as much as Rs 55.03 crore on day one.

'Kabali' has been one of those films that got maximum exposure when it came to having screens. It also managed to break Baahubali’s record of releasing the movie in maximum number of screens in the country. Over 4000 screens were booked in India alone for the film's release.

Kabali has had an unbelievable initial in South India breaking all records. Tamil Nadu - 48,00,00,000, Nizam / Andhra - 20,25,00,000, Mysore /, Kanataka - 16,50,00,000, Kerala - 8,50,00,000, Rest Of India - 16,00,00,000 (This includes not only Hindi, but Tamil and Telugu versions playing outside South India) according to BoxOfficeIndia.com. This is a tremendous feat achieved by any regional film releasing in multiple languages.

Highest Advance Booking Sold Outs

The film that released in almost 95% of the screens in Chennai, created a whole new record for highest advance booking rate in the country. According to reports, around 6000 tickets were sold in just 20 minutes when the online booking commenced. The unprecedented rush in advance booking has created a scenario where tickets are being sold at a higher rate outside of Chennai.

Multi Lingual Release Success

'Kabali' released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. This film is also the first of its kind to release in Malaysia. Apart from this, the Rajinikanth starrer is expected to release in Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Indonesian versions as well. 'Kabali' has become the first Tamil film to achieve such numbers in India and overseas. Not just that, it's Hindi version is also doing immensely well at the box office.
