Anupam Kher: Interesting statements made by the actor

Since the time he stepped into the Indian film fraternity, Anupam Kher became a name to reckon with. The veteran actor has been a part of over 500 films and many plays over the period of time. He has also appeared in acclaimed international films such as the 2002 Golden Globe nominated 'Bend It Like Beckham', Ang Lee's 2007 Golden Lion-winning 'Lust', 'Caution', and David O. Russell's 2013 Oscar-winning 'Silver Linings Playbook'.

The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts. Anupam is currently the Chairman of Film and Television Institute of India. As the news broke on the social media, fans of the actor and members of the film industry cheered him on as the new chair person.

Anupam Kher: I celebrate failure

During the promotions of his upcoming film, Anupam was quoted sharing a meaningful life lesson. He went ahead to talk about how he celebrates failure and the reason will certainly surprise you. "I celebrate failure. Failure teaches you more than what success can in life. Failure motivates... It has power. Failure is multi-dimensional and success is single dimensional," he said.

No alternative to honesty

Anupam has been vocal about many pressing issues including the current affairs of the situation in Bollywood. He wrote a book on life coaching as he says his life is the best reference point for the same. "I wrote a book on life coaching, because my life became my own reference point on how to live."

Anupam Kher: Scared to say I am Hindu

Actor Aamir Khan was heavily condemned for expressing wife Kiran Rao's fear about staying in India due to the growing 'intolerance'. People, belonging to a few groups, carried out extreme protests against him for his statement. In fact, Aamir still continues to receive abusive comments on social media for the same. Kher too shared his piece of mind on the mounting issue.

During the course of the interview, the actor was questioned as to how he felt about certain Bollywood celebrities being scared of the situation in the country. To this, Kher replied that everyone in their profession was scared, including him. When prodded further, he said that he is scared to say that he is a Hindu and if he puts a teeka on his forehead and wears orange-ish clothes, people might brand him as an RSS guy or BJP fanatic.

Laughing at troubles

Anupam was born and raised in Shimla, in a Kashmiri Pandit family. His father was a clerk and he had a modest upbringing. He did his schooling from Shimla itself. In his struggling days as an actor in Mumbai, he slept on railway platforms. The actor, who keeps sharing many anecdotes from his life, shared this wise statement once, "I think if you laugh at your troubles and tell the whole world what went wrong, you can't be frightened by anything."

Of motivational tours and introspection

Kher made his acting debut in the 1982 Hindi movie 'Aagman'. Then in 1984 came 'Saaransh', where 28-year-old Kher played a retired middle-class Maharashtrian man who has lost his son. He has had many comic roles but has also played the villain such as his acclaimed role as the terrorist Dr. Dang in Karma (1986). On introspection, he once said, "I started doing motivational tours. I've seen all kinds of people, from the CEOs to the lowest executive, opening up to their fears. We don't introspect as much as we should."
