Box-office records shattered by ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’

'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' was one of the highly anticipated films after the phenomenal success of the 2015 film 'Baahubali: The Beginning'. Paired with state-of-the-art VFX and a good storyline, the release of the sequel had fans flocking to theatres in large numbers to have their question 'Why Kattappa killed Baahubali' answered. Post its release, the film has broken a number of existing records and is constantly creating new ones with every passing day.

‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has become the first Hindi film to gross Rs 750 crore worldwide, according to a report on Boxofficeindia.com. The film is now not only the highest grossing Hindi film in India but also worldwide. The film has now beaten the previous record of ‘Dangal’ which grossed around Rs 702 crore worldwide in Hindi.

‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ started its third week at the box-office with a bang. The film, that has broken box-office records for every day of its theatrical run with highest collections from day 1 to day 15, grossed Rs 9.5 crore on its third Friday. The previous record for the third Friday stood at Rs 6.2 crore by ‘Dangal’and ‘Baahubali 2’ broke this record by a country mile. Through the third weekend, the film recorded a thunderous collection tallying up to Rs 41.5 crore, which is again around Rs 10 crore higher than the third weekend collection of Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’.

The film set an all-time record with its first-day collections. The multi-lingual fantasy drama collected an estimated total of Rs 40.75 crore from the Hindi market according to a report on Boxofficeindia.com. With this, the Prabhas-Rana starrer dethroned Salman Khan's Diwali 2015 release 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' as the highest first-day grosser of all time. The family drama had collected an estimated Rs 39.32 crore, followed by 'Sultan' which has now moved down to the number 3 spot with a collection of Rs 36.59 crore, while Shah Rukh Khan's 'Happy New Year' comes in fourth at Rs 36.31 crore and Aamir Khan's 'Dhoom 3' closes in the fifth spot at Rs 32.48 crore.

S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' shattered box-office records in film history by crossing the Rs 100 crore mark on day one itself. The multi-lingual film collected an estimated Rs 122.03 crore nett (cumulative figure of all languages) as reported on Boxofficeindia.com. It amassed an estimated total of Rs 40.75 crore from the Hindi market and the remaining Rs 81 crore was garnered in from the other regional markets.

The weekend collection of ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ (Hindi version) stood at a whopping Rs 127.50 crore, stated a report on Boxofficeindia.com. It collected an estimated Rs 40.75 crore on Firday, Rs 40.25 crore on Saturday and approximately Rs 46.50 crore on day 3 (Sunday). The weekend collection of the Hindi version thus beat the record previously created by ‘Sultan’. The Salman Khan starrer had amassed Rs 105 crore in its first weekend.

The film that zoomed past the 100 crore mark across India on day one, created yet another record on day four, by amassing an estimated collection of Rs 39 crore from the Hindi market alone, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. This record was earlier held by Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krrish 3’ which had collected Rs 29.64 crore. Salman's ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and Aamir's ‘Dangal’ take the third and fourth spots on this list with collections of Rs 26.78 crore and Rs 24.98 crore respectively.

‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ continued to smash records and Tuesday was o different as its Hindi version recorded the highest first Tuesday collections in box-office history. The film now holds the record for the highest collections on each of its first five days. It has the highest day one, day two, day three, day four and day five, and by the looks of it, this is set to continue for some time. It has beaten Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’, which held this record previously. ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ earned Rs 29.5 crore approximately, according to Boxofficeindia.com, while ‘Kick’ grossed Rs 26.82 crore on their respective first Tuesdays at the box-office.

The film grossed Rs 441 crore nett in five days, thus becoming the highest earning film ever, leading the gross figure of 'Baahubali 2' to Rs 565 crore, as reported on Boxofficeindia.com. The Hindi version of the film earned Rs 30 crore on day 5 (Tuesday). The total collection of the Hindi version stood at approximately Rs 197.50 crore for the first five days.

‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has gone past the worldwide record of ‘PK’ at Rs 743 crore with business close to Rs 800 crore, according to a report on Boxofficeindia.com. Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ lifetime collection amounted to an estimated Rs 718 crore worldwide, however ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has already earned Rs 792 crore worldwide within its first week. The Hindi version brought in Rs 375 crore, taking its all India figures to Rs 624 crore, also becoming the first film to gross Rs 600 crore in the Indian market. The film earned $26 million (Rs 168 crore) and it stands in sixth place as far as overseas business goes for Hindi films after six days.
