Fear Factor: Celebrities and their weird phobias

After receiving honours for American TV series, ‘Quantico’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani,’ Priyanka Chopra is in a happy zone these days. The actress is now looking forward to the release of her next – Prakash Jha directed ‘Jai Gangaajal.’ The actress took to Instagram and shared a clip from behind the scenes of the film wherein Prakash is seen scolding the unit members. Priyanka captioned the video, “Here's a little known fact about Prakash Jha... apart from being an amazing director, he also has a talent for making grown men quake in their boots every time he picked up the directors mike! Fun to watch when it's directed elsewhere... scary to be on the receiving end! #PrakashJha sorry sir but I just couldn't resist! #jaigangaajal.” No matter how angry the director looks in the clip, we are sure that all this was done for the sake of the film. But yes Priyanka, even we got scared!

After winning the Filmfare Award for her performance in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and taking away the People’s Choice Award for her international TV show ‘Quantico,’ the beauty is all set to present at the Oscars. However, the former Miss World has a fear that haunts her every moment. Revealing her fear as part of Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Neerja’ promotion, Priyanka shared a video of how she suffers from nomophobia - no mobile phone phobia. Recently, Ajay Devgn not only confessed about his fear of heights but also tried overcoming it. While shooting for his upcoming flick Shivaay, Ajay had to hang himself from a cliff in Uttarakhand for one of the action sequences. Sometimes these fears are situational as they remind us of a tragic incident in our life but many a times, they are just irrational. Dark rooms: The cute and vivacious Alia Bhatt, who won our hearts with her performance in movies such as Highway and 2 States, is scared of darkness and cannot sleep without a dim light in her room. Quoting the pretty actress, a TOI report says that she still sleeps with the curtains slightly open. The report adds that her fear from darkness probably stems from childhood when her sister would keep her locked up in a dark room. "I'd keep crying to get me out of the room. I think my fear for dark rooms began since then, “ she added.

Ceiling fans: Actor Arjun Kapoor, who has a rather macho image onscreen, has a rather odd phobia. A TOI report says the actor has an unexplained fear of ceiling fans. Hence, it is for this reason that the 2 States actor allegedly doesn't have a single ceiling fan in his house. The actor won rave reviews for his performance in Homi Adajania's Finding Fanny and is currently shooting with Sonakshi Sinha for Boney Kapoor's Tevar.

Mirrors: Actress Pamela Anderson is known for her roles in television series Baywatch and Home Improvement and was one of the most loved faces of Playboy magazine. Blonde beauty Pamela Anderson has an ironical fear. The actress suffers from Eisoptrophobia- an abnormal and persistent fear of mirrors. It seems Pamela has a fear from mirrors and cannot stand to see her own reflection. In fact, she once said in an interview that she doesn't like seeing mirrors and herself on television.

Butterflies: Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley is scared of one of the most beautiful creations on earth- butterflies. She is very scared of butterflies that she goes into a panic mode when she sees one. A report in mid-may says that while shooting for No Entry in Thailand, Celina spotted a butterfly and was so frightened that she started running, heading straight for a cliff. She could have fallen to her death had her co-stars Lara Dutt and Esha Deol not saved her. In fact, the report also quoted her mother Meeta Jaitley, who said that Celina has this fear of butterflies ever since she was four.

Birds: Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson is scared of birds and cockroaches. She has often gone on record to speak about her irrational fears. In an interview with New York magazine, she said that there is something about their wings and beaks and the flapping that scares her. She also feels that since her uncle is terrified of birds, this fear runs in their family.

Clowns: The Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp has the looks and attitude. However, he is scared of clowns as he feels there is something evil about them. In an interview to Daily Star, Depp said that he has had this fear of clowns for years. He added, “It’s impossible, thanks to their painted-on smiles, to distinguish if they are happy or if they are about to bite your face off. There always seemed to be a darkness lurking just under the surface, a potential for real evil.” Interestingly, Depp played the character of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.

Bacteria: The gorgeous Hollywood actress Megan Fox, who enjoys immense popularity among her fans, has multiple phobias. She is scared of bacteria and germs so much that she cannot us public loos or touch dry paper as she feels she will contract germs. Speaking to Allure magazine, the actress admitted that she feels queasy when in public places, especially in bathrooms and restaurants.

Eggs: While many of us don’t like eggs and are allergic to it, it is shocking to know that there is someone who is scared of eggs. Late English film director and producer Alfred Hitchcock was scared of eggs. While no one knows what led to this irrational fear, reports suggest that he was indeed scared of it. In fact, BIBLIOKLEPT quoted him as saying that he is frightened of eggs. “That white round thing without any holes … have you ever seen anything more revolting than an egg yolk breaking and spilling its yellow liquid?” (sic)
