Popular filmmaker and a recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Daggubati Rama Naidu passed away on February 18. According to a report he had been suffering from cancer. Rana Daggubatti, who has recently made his foray in Bollywood, is his grandson. D. Rama Naidu had contributed to cinema in different languages. According to a report, D Rama Naidu has produced more than 135 films in several Indian languages. Read on to known about some of his notable Hindi films.

In 1974, D. Rama Naidu made his foray in Hindi films as a producer with the film, Prem Nagar. The film was initially produced by D. Rama Naidu in Tamil and Telugu, after which he decided to make it in Hindi. The Bollywood film starred Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini in lead roles. Prem Nagar's song, 'Yeh lal rang...' went on to become one of the biggest chartbusters of the time. The film was much appreciated.

Tohfa was yet another notable film produced by the movie mogul, D. Rama Naidu in 1984. The film starred the most popular jodi of the '80s - Jeetendra and Sridevi. Tohfa was a love triangle Jaya Prada played the third wheel in the film. According to IMDB, the film was a remake of a Telugu film, Devatha. Apparently Tohfa registered good business at the box-office and also catapulted Sridevi's career to new heights. Reportedly, D. Rama Naidu had ensured enough publicity for the film and as a result, the film had opened well.

In 1991 came yet another hit film from D. Rama Naidu. It was titled Prem Qaidi. Karisma Kapoor made her debut with the film. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Karisma spoke about her debut film. She was quoted in the interview as saying that, "I was just 16. I had no clue what was happening. Prem Qaidi was a big risk I was taking. This is what I wanted to do in life - act in films. And in a way, I was confident of Prem Qaidi. I could see that people liked me. Over the weekend, the film did really well."

D. Rama Naidu once again roped in Karisma Kapoor for Anari. This film too was a remake of the Tamil film, Chinna Thambi. D Ram Naidu's son, Venkatesh, made his Bollywood debut with Anari. The film was received well by the audience and went on to become a silver jubilee hit at the box-office. The songs of the film were also very popular.

In 1999, D. Rama Naidu brought together Anil Kapoor and Kajol in Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain. This film was also a remake of the Telugu film, Pavitra Bandham which starred D Rama Naidu's son, Venkatesh. Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain was directed by Satish Kaushik and was a huge hit at the box-office. For one of its romantic tracks, D. Rama Naidu had roped in Anu Malik, Anuradha Paudwal and Kumar Sanu.
