Dil Dhadakne Do: Lessons we can learn from the film

Zoya Akhtar’s much talked-about multi-starrer film, Dil Dhadakne Do has fetched rave reviews from moviegoers and critics alike. The film is high on catchy dialogues. As the Mehras embark on a luxury cruise along with family and friends, they realise that there were other pleasures in life which they had ignored all along. 1. Cheating on your wife can set bad example for your kids

Cheating on your wife, just because you are successful and earn well, cannot be justified in any manner. Just like Kamal Mehra, who flirted with women on his business trips, faces a tough time when his own son questions him. Cheating sets a bad example for the children who may refuse to follow in the parent’s footsteps.

2. Marrying your kids for financial gain may not be a good idea

Choosing a life-partner for your kid, to strengthen your financial position, can cost you dearly. Anil Kapoor character did the same with his son, played by Ranveer Singh. He fixed him up with a rival businessman’s daughter to save his company from bankruptcy. However, when he caught the same girl red-handed in an objectionable position with another boy, he realized his mistake. Also, Ranveer fooled him by accepting his decision while secretly dating club dancer, Farah.

3. Daughters, if given the chance, can outshine sons

Anil Kapoor aka Kamal Mehra did not give his daughter Priyanka Chopra aka Ayesha a chance to build a career before tying the knot. However, since she was born in a family of businessmen, she made to the Forbes top list of entrepreneurs. However, her achievements were never lauded and even her name was not mentioned in the invitation because she was no more a part of their family. But her on-screen brother, Ranveer Singh, accepts that she is the rightful heir to their father’s business.

4. Not every arranged marriage can be successful


The bewildered father of a married girl, Kamal Mehra shouts on top of his voice, “Iss ghar mein divorce na kabhi hua na hoga.” But why did a situation like this arise? Kamal Mehra had married off Ayesha as soon as she had reached the marriageable age and deported her to Mumbai. Despite being married to a seemingly perfect man, Ayesha doesn’t fall in love with him. Instead she finds herself attracted to Farhan Akhtar’s character.

5. Don’t underestimate anyone

Kamal Mehra had an inkling about the growing proximity between his daughter, Ayesha, and his manager’s son, Sunny. Hence, he sponsored Sunny’s higher education at Yale University to send him away. However, after Ayesha’s wedding, Sunny returns as a successful journalist. This impresses Kamal Mehra.
