Engineers turned actors who made it big in Bollywood

Had life not blossomed on the silver screen, Sushant Singh Rajput, R Madhavan, Kriti Sanon, Fawad Khan and Kartik Aaryan would have perhaps been busy with engineering and machines at a swanky corporate office. But destiny had something else in store for these masterminds. Here is a look at the real-life impressive educational backgrounds of our favourite stars:

2/8

Kartik Aaryan

‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ actor Kartik Aaryan is armed with degrees and diplomas. The Gwalior-based actor, who was doing his engineering course in Mumbai along with an acting course, without telling his parents about it, bagged a role in the blockbuster ‘Pyaar ka Punchnama’. Not only was his performance lauded, especially his lengthy monologue, but he went on to feature in its sequel too, which proved to be his second successful film. The actor has recently signed director-producer Aanand L Rai’s next, a remake of the hit Tamil romantic-comedy ‘Kalayana Samayal Saadam’ and has replaced Irrfan Khan as the brand ambassador of a popular deodorant.
3/8

R Madhavan

The chocolate boy, who made his permanent place in our hearts with his romantic flick ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’ opposite Dia Mirza before becoming famous as Manu of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, is actually one of the most talented souls in the B-town. The ‘Rang De Basanti’ actor is completely opposite of his popular character from ‘3 Idiots’. He did his graduation in electronics and represented India as a cultural ambassador in Canada. He was also awarded Best NCC Cadet Maharashtra and trained with the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. He also won the Indian Championship for Public Speaking and even represented India at the Young Businessmen Conference in Tokyo, Japan.
4/8

Kriti Sanon

Not many of us know that Kriti Sanon, who featured in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dilwale’ and will now be seen with Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘Raabta’, is an engineer by profession. She completed her B. Tech in Electronics and communication from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Delhi but later pursued acting and even went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her film ‘Heropanti’.
5/8

Fawad Khan

The ‘Khoobsurat’ actor Fawad Khan, who impressed us in ‘Kapoor And Sons’ and will next be seen in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, had thought of becoming an Aeronautical engineer or a pilot. He holds a graduation degree in Telecom Engineering from the National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences, Lahore. But destiny had something else in store for him. He became a household name with his popular Pakistani romantic-drama ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ before making it big in Bollywood.
6/8

Sushant Singh Rajput

Not many know that ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who will now be seen in the MS Dhoni biopic and ‘Raabta’ with Kriti Sanon, pursued Mechanical Engineering at a college in Delhi before he decided to follow his dreams and move to Mumbai. From being a bright engineering student and 7th rank holder at the All India Engineering Entrance Exams (AIEEE), Sushant Singh Rajput went on to become the most loved small screen actor for his TV show ‘Pavitra Rishta’ opposite his ex-girlfriend Aankita Lokhaande. Sushant later rose to fame on the silver screen by hitting the bull’s eye with Bollywood debut ‘Kai Po Che’.
7/8

Sonu Sood

The ‘Happy New Year’ actor, Sonu Sood will now be seen sharing screen space with none other than Jackie Chan in ‘Kung Fu Yoga’. But not many are aware that the actor, who is also a hit down South, holds an Engineering degree in Electronics from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur. The tall, dark and handsome actor, who is also a fitness freak, bagged several awards for his Telugu film ‘Arundhati’ and has played prominent roles in ‘Dabangg’, ‘R… Rajkumar’, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and many more.
8/8

Vicky Kaushal

The ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ actor Vicky Kaushal, who garnered huge appreciation for his debut performance in the award-winning film ‘Masaan’, is an Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer but the first thing he wanted to do after completing his education was working as an assistant director. The actor revealed that he tore apart his job letter after appearing for an interview as he knew that nobody would take his interview in the film industry.
