'Panipat': All you need to know about the Sanjay Dutt-Arjun Kapoor starrer

Arjun Kapoor, who has been making headlines due to his personal life took to social media to share a picture of himself from the gym, where he has been sweating it out for his upcoming film 'Panipat'.

The actor has been gearing up for his role by spending a lot of time in the gym and is currently spotted with a new look which he'll be seen sporting in 'Panipat', which is a period drama. He captioned the picture as "Time to prepare for battle , next schedule of Panipat in Jaipur from tomorrow. Time to get back into the zone !!! #panipatprep #trainingday."

Arjun, who has also has learnt horse-riding for the film will be heading to Jaipur for the next schedule of the film. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt, Kriti Sanon, Padmini Kolhapure and Mohnish Bahl in pivotal roles. Helmed by Ashutosh Gowariker, 'Panipat' which is based on the life of Sadashiv Rao Bhau who was the nephew of Peshwa Bajirao, is scheduled to release on December 6, 2019.

We are currently in a time where Bollywood is looking back into history books to tell tales of India’s glorious past. While some of these films draw inspiration from the country's greatest rulers, some bloodiest battles and others on the rise and fall of empires. Director Ashutosh Gowariker, who had last made the film ‘Mohenjo Daro’, will be back next year with another visual spectacle ‘Panipat’. Starring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, the film is reportedly a high-octane period film, which will tell the story of what led to the third Battle of Panipat.

While we wait for the film to release in December 2019, here are a few things you need to know.

Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will soon share screen-space for the very first time in ‘Panipat’. The two powerhouses of talent will put on their warrior armour, pick up their swords and head into battle for what is believed to be their first period film. In the film, Arjun will be seen playing the role of Maratha leader Sadashivrao Bhau, while Sanjay will portray Ahmad Shah Durrani.

At a recent event, Arjun expressed his excitement to work with Dutt saying, “I am excited. I will be nervous only after I reach the sets. When such films are announced, you look forward and as an actor, you have grown up wanting to do these things. Sanjay sir is a benchmark when it comes to the action genre and to do a film a proper action film with him is very exciting. I hope to enjoy more.”

While we have the leading men sharing the screen for the first time, Kriti Sanon will also be joining them in the ranks. This also happens to be her first film opposite Arjun. Going by past records, it has always been a pleasure to see two unlikely stars coming together for a film. While much of her character is kept under wraps, Kriti has begun training in horse riding for her part. Could this mean we will see her up on the battlefront?

Arjun Kapoor will soon shed his lover-boy image for this new warrior avatar in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s upcoming period drama ‘Panipat’. Being a thorough professional, the star has begun prepping up for his character by taking up horse riding lessons. He recently posted a picture with his filmmaker and a horse and captioned it saying, “Had quite a Sunday morning, started my horse riding sessions for Panipat today... Thank you to the President of Amateur Riders Club, Suresh Tapuriah, for the guidance and for making me meet this absolute beauty of a horse, Shaka Zulu!"

Ashutosh Gowariker, who is known to feature larger than life sets in his movies, is reportedly getting the Shaniwar Wada fort, known as the seat of the Peshwa empire recreated for 'Panipat'. This interesting fact came to light when the director shared a photograph of the 'bhoomi pujan' and captioned it saying,"Construction began on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya! Recreation of the 'Shaniwar Wada' to original scale!"

National Award winning music composers Ajay-Atul Gogavale, known for their work in the Marathi film industry, have come on-board to score the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial 'Panipat'.

In an interview with PTI, the music-duo said, "It is a great honour for us to work with a great director like Ashu sir. He is not only an excellent filmmaker but also has very good musical sensibilities, and we have seen that through all his films. We are excited to be a part of his next magnum opus – ‘Panipat’."

According to reports, the director approached the duo because he felt they have the 'musical sensibilities' required for the film.
