'Shaandaar' failure made Shahid Kapoor opt out of 'AK v/s SK'?

After the negative response to Shaandaar, Shahid Kapoor has become extremely cautious about the films he chooses. According to reports, the actor wasn’t really convinced about taking up Shaandaar, but anyways decided to do the film. Now, it seems that Shahid has walked out of his next project AK v/s SK, and as per Filmfare.com, a source has revealed that it was the failure of Shaandaar that caused the actor to rethink about the film. The actor, who is keen on avoiding risky projects, allegedly feels that he does not have anything much to do in the film. The source added that though his friend Madhu Mantena tried to convince him, he had already made up his mind.

Shahid Kapoor was never convinced about Shaandaar?

Shaandaar, which was being touted as the film to watch out for, has received a not-so-favourable response both from the critics as well as the audience. According to a report on Bollywoodhungama.com, the debacle of the film hasn't gone down too well for the film's lead actor, Shahid Kapoor. A source has been quoted in the report as saying that, Shahid was never convinced about the script and that he had done the film for producer, Madhu Mantena as the two are close friends. The source added that now Shahid is fuming because Shaandaar has not only failed to deliver the much-needed box office success to his career, it also brought down the reputation of his father, Pankaj Kapur.

Shahid Kapoor, who won accolades for Haider was offered Ken Ghosh's directorial, XXX, which is being produced by Ekta Kapoor, reports Mid-day.com. Quoting a source, the report stated that Shahid turned down the offer due to date issues, and also he was not keen on getting into the erotic genre. As Shahid has turned down the offer, the director is sulking, added the report. Further quoting a source close to Shahid, the report stated that all is well between the actor and the director, but Shahid won't do erotic films. XXX is a film which will have five stories exploring various aspects of sexual relationships for which Ekta Kapoor has added a new nudity clause in the contract for actors working in her projects, the report concluded.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara: Considering the fate of the film, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara, at the box-office, Shahid's decision of rejecting the film seems logical. According to reports, Shahid Kapoor was approached to play the role of Aslam which ultimately went to Imran Khan.

Bang Bang: Both Bang Bang and Haider released on the same day. And it indeed comes as a surprise that Shahid had been the first choice for both. While Bang Bang managed to mint money at the box-office, Haider impressed the critics and fetched Shahid many Awards. Not a bad choice then.
