Shahid Kapoor speaks out on why actors don’t comment on social issues

Shahid Kapoor was recently asked that many actors take up films based on social issues, however, not everyone takes a stand for the problems in the society. To this, the actor said that he believes it has a lot to do with fear, which is sad and people who can create a difference shy away from addressing issues on a larger platform because the repercussions can be fatal. He added that the sensible thing to do is convey the message through one’s work. Shahid admitted that he has never been overtly expressive about his views because he doesn't want to engage in controversies, and that is not why he became an actor.

Shahid’s upcoming film ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is slated to release on September 21, 2018.

Shahid Kapoor to play a boxer in his next?

Shahid Kapoor is currently gearing up for the release of his next film ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. The trailer and songs have already created a great buzz around the film. Now, if reports are to be believed, then the actor has now found his next project. Apparently his next film will be a super serious and challenging project which he was on the lookout for ever since 'Padmaavat' came out. In this project, he is touted to play the role of a boxer and it will be a biopic no less. As for who the boxer is and whether there is any truth to the rumours, only time will tell.

When Shahid Kapoor shot a three-and-a-half-minute long monologue without any cuts for 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu'

Shahid Kapoor is currently shooting the climax of his next film 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' in Mumbai. The actor who plays a lawyer in the film recently shot for a court-room scene and left the entire team stunned. According to a source, “The monologue in Batti is even longer than the one that Shahid had performed for Haider. He rehearsed his dialogues during his break. When he came on the sets, he discussed the shot with director Shree Narayan Singh and delivered a cracker of a scene. Shree, Shraddha (Kapoor), Yami (Gautam) and the entire crew present on the sets started clapping for him."

His director Shree Narayan Singh is all praises for the actor. He says, "Even if I don’t put any background music in the scene, audiences will still cry watching it. Everybody on the set had become emotional while seeing him perform. I haven’t worked with many actors, but Shahid is brilliant. We have become good friends. We are teaming up again for a thriller set in UP.”

'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' is a social drama, which depicts the story of a common man and his struggle against the power distribution companies over exorbitant electricity bills.

Shahid Kapoor keen on working in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's ‘Kabaddi’?

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is a dream director for most actors in B-town. The filmmaker has a variety of hits under his belt. Now what we hear is that Shahid Kapoor is also keen on working with the veteran filmmaker in his upcoming film ‘Kabaddi’. Shahid has been experimenting with his work a lot lately and has paired up with many directors for the first time. The ‘Padmavati’ actor has played a cricketer in ‘Dil Bole Hadippa!’ but if at all things work out with Rakeysh, ‘Kabaddi’ will be his first full-fledged sports film.

Could this be Shahid Kapoor’s look for ‘Padmavati’?

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is gearing up to give fans a history lesson with his upcoming film ‘Padmavati’. While the director is yet to officially announce his star cast, B-town is abuzz with rumours that Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have bagged the leading roles. In the film that goes on floors later this year, Deepika will be seen playing the titular role of Padmavati with Shahid reportedly playing the role of her husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh, on the other hand, will reportedly be seen playing the part of Sultan Alauddin Khilji. Reports state that both Bollywood hunks are growing their beards to match the look of the 13-century emperors. Shahid’s latest selfie has further fueled those speculations that this might just be his look in the upcoming film.

Shahid Kapoor's character in Udta Punjab NOT inspired by Honey Singh!

While Udta Punjab is fighting out with the Censor Board to get a go-ahead so that it releases on June 17, the audiences have been excited to see Shahid Kapoor transform into a Punjabi rockstar. The actor gave us a sneak peek into his character by posting pictures on Instagram and we loved the way Shahid transformed into this character. He looked every bit the notorious rock star Tommy Singh who is loved by the masses. Many speculated that this character is inspired by our own rap star Yo Yo Honey Singh and the fact that the duo shared a similar surname only gave more weight to these speculations. Although, when Shahid was asked about the same, he said, "Obviously he’s a big star in Punjab and that’s the only parallel that you can draw with Yo Yo Honey Singh. The character that I play is a rockstar who’s a cocaine addict so I wouldn’t want to draw any parallels. And if you see the look of the character and how he is, I don’t think he looks like Honey Singh.” He further added, “The styling and everything are generic right? I mean when you are a Punjabi rockstar that’s the vibe that you have. I don’t think it's towards any individual. I think that’s the general space and it is a blingy space. He’s a bit of an exhibitionist, he’s loud, he’s in your face, he’s aggressive, he’s overconfident.” So for all of you who think Shahid indeed was inspired by Honey Singh for his role in Udta Punjab, the answer is NO!

Why did Shahid Kapoor hide for 2 hours in a salon?

According to a report on Mid-Day.com, Shahid Kapoor got stuck at a salon in Mumbai for almost two hours in order to hide his new look that he sports in Udta Punjab. The report further states that Shahid visited a salon at midnight to get a new haircut for his upcoming film, Udta Punjab but while he was leaving, he got a hint about photographers waiting outside to capture his new look. The actor rushed inside the salon and made the photographers wait for hours. A source was quoted in the report as saying that Shahid wanted to keep his new look for Udta Punjab, a secret. So the actor decided to hang around in the salon till the time he was sure that no photographers were around.

It was a huge performance with a lot of crowd cheering and hooting for him. With Shahid, it doesn't take time to set any stage act as he is a fabulous dancer and picks up almost anything in a snap. However this time around it were the background dancers who took some time to get the act right which led to some more hours of practice for Shahid as well. Back in demand: Shahid Kapoor impressed one and all with R...Rajkumar. The actor was approached by all the award functions last year to perform on the hit songs from the film. Shahid is an exceptional dancer and performer on stage and out of the top five songs of last year, three songs belonged to his films ('Gandi Baat', 'Agal Bagal' and 'Dhating Nach'). Apart from the fact that the music of these songs were indeed good, Shahid's dancing made it a visual treat.
