Sidharth Malhotra opens up about his struggling days

Sidharth Malhotra had nothing short of a dream launch in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’. However, it has not always been a bed of roses for the hunk who recently opened up about his struggling days.

Talking about his early days as a budding actor, Sidharth revealed that he actually started out in Bollywood as an assistant director for ‘Dostana’. Before that, he tried out his luck in advertisements and which was met with many rejections along the way. According to online reports, the actor lost out on his first audition but soon bagged a big ad deed. However, he was back in the rut with a series of rejections that he found very discouraging.

However, according to Sid, the worst part about it all was that they always made him feel "small and unimportant". In the end, he apparently could not deal with all the negativity and ended up being an assistant director before Karan Johar finally gave him his big break.

With Bane, he has something covering his mouth but I love the way his voice is different. With Mogambo, I liked his cool den which had props to kill people and get rid of them," he stated.

Sidharth Malhotra: Lesser known facts

Sidharth's role model is none other than the badshah of Bollywood- Shah Rukh Khan. The young actor worked as an assistant director on Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan before debuting with the latter's Student of the Year. That's when he got a chance to interact with King Khan and considers him to be his role model. "SRK is my role model. I worked as AD on My Name is Khan and I interacted with him. He was sweet enough to give us pointers. While we were shooting for the film, we were secluded and the cameras were far off. He (SRK) was playing Rizwan. I thought he was mumbling his lines and he told me to look around and check props. Just the kind of person he is, the way he carries his stardom, I am a fan on and off camera. I wish I stay as level headed and grounded as he is. He's the same Delhi boy."
