Sonam Kapoor: Interesting facts about the actress

Born in a family that had their roots in the world of showbiz, fame should have come naturally to Sonam Kapoor. However, contrary to that, the star kid had a rather normal upbringing. The Anil and Sunita Kapoor’s daughter made sure she earns and spends her own money since she was a teenager.

The actress even worked as a waitress during her college days in order to earn some extra pocket money. Sonam paid for all her expensive clothes and accessories herself and was never reportedly dependent on her actor father for her necessities and luxuries.

Although she came from a filmy family, Sonam apparently never thought of becoming an actress. She worked as an assistant director to Bollywood’s esteemed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The actress assisted the director in his 2005 film ‘Black’.

Bhansali reportedly kept on convincing Sonam that she was made for acting and that she should try her hand in the films. He even told her that her entire image is like an Ajanta painting. After persuading her for about apparently 1.5 years, Sonam agreed to do ‘Saawariya’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

Although this one is quite hard to believe, contrary to the kind of healthy body she not only maintains but flaunts, Sonam Kapoor is an absolute foodie. The actress, who is self confessedly an ultimate desi on the inside, had reportedly said that she loves to gorge on desi homemade and street foods.

For her debut film ‘Saawariya’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the Bollywood diva lost about 30 kilos to achieve the envious body she flaunts today.

While we know that Sonam hails from a family that has been part of the industry in some of the other ways, right from father Anil to uncles Boney and Sanjay Kapoor. In that way, Sonam has some really cool cousins around her, be it Janhvi and Khushi or Arjun and Anshula or Shanaya or Ranveer Singh.

While Arjun Kapoor is her cousin from her paternal side, Ranveer is her cousin from her maternal side. Knowing the fact that Arjun and Ranveer are madhouses together, we can just imagine what having these both as cousins must be like!

Sonam reportedly is closer to Arjun than Ranveer. Arjun used to apparently save her from bullies when they were in school.

Apart from fashion and acting, what Sonam Kapoor enjoys the most is dancing. The actress loved dancing so much that she got herself enrolled in dancing class where they taught Indian classical dance. Sonam, today, is a trained classical dancer.

She has time and again showed her excellence in dancing in many of her movies.
