Welcome 2 Karachi: 5 things that will make you laugh

Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani antics are enough to keep the audience engaged in the comedy, Welcome 2 Karachi. However, the film has much more to offer apart from their camaraderie. The duo, in a bizarre turn of events, find themselves in Karachi, Pakistan, without a valid Visa or even passports. What happens next makes for an entertaining watch. Here are five reasons we found ourselves guffawing throughout the film…

Welcome 2 Karachi: 5 things that will make you laugh

Jackky's accent: After impressing with his innings as the Prime Minister in his last film, Youngistaan, Jackky Bhagnani steps into the shoes of the bumbling Gujarati boy. Jackky's character loves dhokla, garba, Gujaratis and Gujarat. He would trade anything for a round or garba or some vegetarian food. What's even more amusing is the fact that he has a Gujju accent. So, hall is hole and call is cole. And when he tries to take on the Urdu speaking Pakistanis, you roll on the floor in laughter.

Arshad's antics: After acing the comic genre with numerous films in his illustrious career, Arshad brings a little of every role to this film. He supports Jackky in his dumb pursuits. While he plays the elder friend who is supposed to be responsible, he has his moments of folly too. The fact that he thinks he is smarter than his Gujju speaking friend, creates hilarious situations. Also, Arshad's amazing comic timing pulls the film through.

Random songs: Like a film straight out of the '90s, characters break into random song and dance sequences. There is not much logic in the film, anyway. However, the misplaced songs make the film even more fun, albeit unintentionally. While Bhagnani's earlier pursuits had few peppy numbers, Welcome 2 Karachi disappoints on that front. The lyrics seem forced but Jackky and Arshad's act makes it bearable.

Lauren's cop act: Lauren Gottlieb is the intelligence agent in the film. Her act, however, is anything but intelligent. While her character tries to be all serious, her failed attempts at nabbing the miscreants results in laughter. Lauren is at her best when she dances and she has just one song to do so. However, she excels in the song as she gyrates to the number.

Stereotypes: The film beautifully portrays the fact that people on either side of the border, are the same. They love their food and cricket just as much we do. It also highlights the love that the people of India and Pakistan have for each other. However, it also delves into every possible cliche. From bomb blasts to gun shots, every cliche is a part of the film. Also there is an elaborate scene where countries fight with each other and each behaves in the same, cliched manner.
