songs, noted lyricist Sameer Anjaan sees nothing wrong in swimming with the tide.

Recently, we asked award-winning lyricist Sameer Anjaan if he believes that the music that comes from the current brigade of musicians offend him. To which, he replied, “See, times have changed and you cannot change that or stop (what’s happening). I don’t think there is any vulgarity because the language that current generation speaks is such. We, lyricists, always tend to write what the present generation identifies with. I don’t think there is any vulgarity, but the basic essence of a song should not be disturbed.”

When asked if he likes the revamped versions of classic songs that have come out in the recent past, he explained, “Whatever song you are recreating (by introducing gen next words to it); I think the basic structure (of the song) should not be destroyed. If you are recreating an old song, why not ask the original lyricist to write it, instead of asking someone else to add a few lines here and there.”
