Music review: Bombairiya

Starring Radhika Apte, Siddhanth Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Adil Hussain, Amit Sial, Ravi Kishan and Shilpa Shukla, Bombairiya is a four-song album.

The first song, 'Bairiya', has two versions — one is a duet by Navraj Hans and Akriti Kakar, the other a Navraj solo. Unlike his usual fare, composer-lyricist Arko Pravo Mukherjee’s music in this track is just about average. The expressive sound of the stringed instrument

and the guitar strains are refreshing though. The lyrics are nothing to write home about and it is rather evident that not much thought was put in when Arko penned down this number. Akriti Kakar’s melodious voice could not save this rather dull track.

The next number, 'Sanki', has been composed and rendered by Arko. Interestingly, Arko is heard rapping with this quintessential Punjabi-EDM Bollywood track — the singer-composer has tried his hand at both Hindi and English rap. Sanki has been penned by Arko and Michael E Ward.

'Sajde Karoon' is a melodious sufi

qawwali

with familiar and comforting beats. Composed and penned by Amjad Nadeem, this track has been rendered by Yasser Desai, Meraj Warsi, Riyaz Warsi, Faraz Warsi (Warsi Brothers). The use of drums in the antara gives an interesting take to this otherwise folkish track.
