Music review: Pagalpanti

Action-comedy 'Pagalpanti' directed by Anees Bazmee has an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana D'Cruz, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Saurabh Shukla.

The multi-composer album, has five tracks (with a generous sprinkling of remixes), of which only three released at the time of going to press.

The first song, 'Tum Par Hum Hai Atke', has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi and sung by Neha Kakkar and Mika Singh. Their inimitable style of singing in this out-and-out dance track is what stands out in this remake. The original composed by Himesh Reshammiya, penned by Sudhakar Sharma was sung by Kumar Sanu, Kavita Krishnamurthy in the Salman Khan-Kajol starrer 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya'.

The second one 'Thumka' is a Yo Y o Honey Singh original that has been written, composed and sung by him with additional lyrics by Singhsta, Hommie DilliWala. With a typical EDM soundscape and pedestrian lyrics this dance track has nothing to write home about.

In the next song, Tanishk has once more done what he is well-known for — gone ahead and recreated 'Tera Beemar Mera Dil' from the iconic Sridevi starrer 'Chaal Baaz' (1989) that had been composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and sung by Mohammad Aziz and Kavita Krishnamurthy. Titled 'Bimar Dil', the new one has been written by Shabbir Ahmed and Tanishk and sung by Asees Kaur and Jubin Nautiyal. The entire team has tried giving a new feel to this one with a slightly slower tempo and slicker beats.

The two unreleased songs are 'Dil Mera', written by Shabbir Ahmed composed by Sajid-wajid, and the title track, that has been written by Kumaar and composed by Nayeem-Shabir. While the first has been sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal the latter has been rendered by Vishal Dadlani, Badshah and Benny Dayal. We can only hope these are better than the songs that are already out.
