The habit worn by Catholic nuns seems to be the new fashion favourite of singer Lady Gaga. A staple in most of her videos as well as regular dressing, the singer seems obsessed with other Christian imageries
Lady Gaga seems to be on a shocking spree. If her outlandish fashion sense and scandalous performances were not enough, the singer has grabbed the attention of the devotees and clerics of the Christian faith.
Only recently, Gaga was under fire for her video, “Alejandro”, which featured the singer dressed as a nun, serenaded by half-naked men. She was also seen swallowing a rosary (Catholic prayer beads). The video director of “Alejandro”, Steven Klein defended Gaga saying that the swallowing of the Rosary was symbolic of Gaga’s desire to “take in the holy.” The justification however, didn’t seem to pacify the religious.
In her single, “Judas”, Gaga’s at it again. This time using a bilblical figure. Gaga apparently plays Mary Magdalene who is cheated by Judas Iscariot – the betrayer of Jesus Christ, according to the Bible. Prior to the release of the video, the singer was condemned by the Catholic League for her role as as Mary Magdalene in the video.
In another incident, she redefined the habit worn by Catholic nuns once again when she turned up at a press conference in a racy and revealing ‘nun outfit’. The outfit looked ultra-glam, but left one wondering how she was able to see through the mask covering her face. But given Gaga’s obsession with the eccentric, everyone seemed to have left it to imagination!
