Directed by Canadian director Ken Scott, The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir, is a comedy-adventure

film

in English and French, starring Dhanush. There are three diverse Hindi songs in the film, which have been composed by Amit Trivedi.

Madaari is a perfect mix of acoustic and electronic groove. Amit is known for picking traditional instruments and giving them a contemporary twist. So, the live brass and stroke sections stand out for us in this

song

. The trombone by Ramon Ibrahim, saxophone by ID Rao, trumpet by Kishore Sodha, and banjo, mandolin, saz and bouzouki by Tapas Roy steal the show. Needless to say, the versatile Vishal Dadlani nails it with the playback, accompanied by Nikhita Gandhi. Chorus singers Rajiv Sundaresan and Suhas Sawant have done a good job, too.

The second song, Angrezi Luv Shuv, has been rendered beautifully by Amit and Jonita Gandhi. There are a lot of variations and changes in scale in the track, but it’s easily hummable. The lyrics, penned by Anvita Dutt (she has written all the songs from the Hindi soundtrack), are catchy and relatable. The song gives an insight into the journey of the protagonist and his love story. The flute rendition by Paras Nath stands out.

Sung by Mame Khan, Maila Maila is an uptempo number. Traditional Indian instruments like the sarangi (by Dilshad Khan) and flute (by Paras Nath) have been given an interesting Indo-western fusion arrangement in this track. R Venkatraman, who has penned and sung the rap parts of the song, is impressive. The chorus singers Keshia Braganza and Lara Pinto deliver, too. Kudos to composer Amit Trivedi for conceptualising and executing something so offbeat.
