Nikhita Gandhi has been in the news off late for her new independent single ‘Humshakal’ as well as singing the funky songs ‘Dhyaanchand’ from ‘
Manmarziyaan
’ and ‘Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe’ from ‘
Stree
’. Nikhita feels she was misquoted in an interview recently, where she was attributed as saying, “Music labels tend to interfere in creative content” while answering the question, ‘Why she did not release her independent song titled
Humshakal
through a music label?’
Unfortunately, there was confusion about what Nikhita intended to say and what was published. She explains, “When I was asked, ‘Why didn’t I release my single with a music label?’, I spoke about the fact that music labels in India are usually involved with the creative process of independent songs and since ‘Humshakal’ was already conceptualized, I decided to release my single independently. I did also enthusiastically mention that I am looking forward to releasing my next few singles with labels and these videos and songs will have social messages, which I hope will reach a larger audience.”
