A political satire inspired by Urdu book staged in Delhi

Theatre actor-director Danish Husain recently staged his latest play, '

Qissa Urdu Ki Aakhri Kitaab Ka

', at the

Ghalib Institute in Delhi

. The play, a political satire, is based on Pakistani humourist and poet

Ibn-e-Insha

’s 'Urdu Ki Aakhri Kitaab', which was written in the 1960s. The play was presented in the form of a talk show involving two people, Danish Husain and Yasir Iftikhar Khan.

Even though Danish has written the play taking cues from Ibn-e-Insha’s book, he also balanced it with topical issues of the country. The play covered several current topics including fake news, families’ WhatsApp groups and current affairs. People who came to watch the play said that what made the show a hit was that it was a mix of history, contemporary issues and humour.
