Bengali theatre festival gets a thumbs-up from Lucknowites

Club and Young Men’s Association Lucknow recently organised a theatre fest Bahirbango Natya Utsav. The four-day fest had plays like '

Moimonsingha Geetika

', '

Pran Torongo

' and '

Magan Rajar Pala

' staged on the first three days.

On the last day of the festival, a play titled Athoi Jal, directed by Bratya Basu was staged. The musical play had several comic scenes in it which kept the audience entertained till the end. Debshankar Haldar, protagonist of the play, also a famous Bengali actor, gave a splendid performance which was appreciated by the audience. The chief guest, Ashok Roy Choudhury, was spotted enjoying the play.

The play revolved around a doctor named Shashanka, having a wife and two kids, with high moral values. The play showcased the unexpected twists and turns in Shashanka’s life when he falls in love with a woman from the lower strata of society. The audience laughed out loud on the punches and jokes cracked by Debshankar and other casts of the play.
