'Ek Din Bank Mein' to be staged at the Singapore festival

Ank Theatre is all set to participate in the third edition of

Singapore

's Hindi theatre festival Dastak. The festival will have ten short plays directed by ten different directors with over 70 members of cast and crew, mostly local talents.

Titled '

Ek Din Bank Mein

', it has been adapted by Dinesh Thakur from Chekhov's story "A Day in the Bank" in Hindi and English. It will be performed by the Ank theatre group. It is a dramatisation of an

Anton Chekhov

's short story set in a bank. The protagonist is troubling the bank manager with irrelevant questions and how the bank manager handles the situation sets the stage for this comedy.

With it's take on any kind of exploitation that has a repercussion on the system, 'Someone, somewhere will have to pay' is the underlying message of the entire play. The play stars
