Nam Tae Hyun has found himself embroiled at the centre of another legal case. The idol has been booked for drunk driving, adding on to the legal cases he has been involved in so far.
Nam Tae Hyun booked for violating traffic laws
The idol Nam Tae Hyun has been booked by the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul. He is suspected to be booked for drunk driving and for violating the Road Traffic Act as well, according to reports from Allkpop.
It was suspected, according to the report, that the idol crashed into the central divider of the area situated near the Dongjak Bridge. While going to Ilsan, the idol crashed on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro highway at 4 in the morning. The incident is said to have occurred around the end of April.
Nam Tae Hyun's blood alcohol concentration level high
Even though no one was hurt due to the accident, it was found upon investigation that the idol had a blood alcohol concentration level higher than 0.08%. This was beyond the licence cancellation level, making the matter even more serious.
No arrest was made; however, the case is to be forwarded without detention. Nam Tae Hyun was not arrested for the matter, as during a warrant hearing for his arrest, the court ruled that it wasn't a plausible action due to little to no concrete evidence.
Previous legal case
This is not the first time that the idol has been involved in a major legal case. Last year, Tae Hyun was booked, arrested, and charged for violating the Narcotic Control Act of South Korea. He was found guilty and punished with a 10-month term in prison along with a suspension of 2 years.
The idol also had to pay a fine of 6 million KRW in March 2023 as well. The idol had been drunk driving and had caused an accident before during investigations for his drug charges.
Tae Hyun's concert and comeback were cancelled
The former member of K-pop group Winner was set to make his comeback after his drug scandal; however, due to backlash from netizens, the performance was cancelled. The idol was set to perform at the popular music festival ‘K-pop Week in Hongdae’.
Public reaction to the incident
Netizens online took to different forums and social media platforms to express their opinions on the matter. Many expressed their disdain over the matter and the idol's actions. One shared that "You can't fix people," while another stated that "I thought he was trying to change his life."
