Remembering Jonghyun: Minho shares heartfelt message on 6th Death Anniversary

Today marks the solemn 6th anniversary since SHINee member Jonghyun ascended to become a star in the sky. Jonghyun, born on April 8, 1990, left a lasting impact through his talents as SHINee’s main vocalist, songwriter, and composer. His untimely departure on December 18, 2017, at the age of 27, left fans mourning his loss.


On this poignant day, SM Entertainment, SHINee’s agency, paid tribute by sharing a photo of Jonghyun’s performance on SHINee’s official SNS, accompanied by a heartfelt message: “We always love you.”

Minho, another member of SHINee, took to his social media to express his emotions, posting a photo of Jonghyun and sharing a touching message. He reminisced, “It’s a warm winter again today thanks to you. I miss you even more this year, hyung. Always missing you a lot, remembering a lot, and talking a lot about you!” He added, “I just visited hyung and met your mother on the way back. Don't worry, I comforted her well. Many people miss you a lot. Just saying. Hyung, think of me sometimes too. See you again.”

Jonghyun’s multifaceted talents extended beyond his singing into songwriting and composing. He contributed to notable tracks like SHINee’s ‘Juliette’ and ‘View,’ IU’s ‘Gloomy Clock,’ Son Dam-bi’s ‘Red Candle,’ EXO’s ‘Playboy,’ and Lee Hi’s ‘Breathe.’

In the years preceding his passing, Jonghyun connected with listeners through his radio show ‘Blue Night, Jonghyun’ and showcased his compositions in the ‘Blue Night Lyricist Composer’ segment. His solo songs ‘End of a Day’ and ‘Lonely,’ featuring Taeyeon, gained widespread love.


Jonghyun’s legacy lives on through his posthumous album ‘Poet|Artist,’ released in January the following year. His family, inspired by the title track ‘Shinin’,’ established the non-profit foundation ‘Shinin’’ to nurture and support cultural and artistic individuals.
