A BREEZY DRIVE
The flyover connects PB Road, NH 4, Vijayapur Road, 218, Gadag State Highway, 63, Dharwad Road, Old Bus Stand and Janata Bazar. Once completed, motorists can enjoy a smooth drive, without any traffic hurdles.
CRUNCHING NUMBERS
The flyovers are being made at an estimated cost of Rs 1,242.26 crore — Rs 561.25 crore for the Channamma Circle and Rs 681.01 crore for the Jubilee Circle. Implementation of the project and providing utilities, such as a water pipeline, electric lines, drainage lines, require 1,28,054.50 sq ft of land in Hubballi, of which 2,501.46 sq ft is yet to be acquired. In Dharwad, 1,18,165.50 sq ft is needed for the project and utilities, in which 6,5193.58 sq ft is to be acquired. Rs 18.86 crore and Rs 72.87 crore has been set aside for this in Hubballi and Dharwad, respectively.
CENTRE’S BACKING
The Central government has shown special interest in implementing the project and has granted Rs 360 crore to uplift the Channamma Circle. When Central minister Nitin Gadkari visited Hubballi, he said that the Centre would grant unlimited fund for the upgrading and the flyover of the Channamma Circle.

. The city is all set to get a new flyover, which is set to put an end to traffic hurdles in the twin cities. Motorists, commuters and pedestrians will soon be free from heavy traffic. The action plan of the flyover has been submitted to the government, with the focus on the main traffic junctions — Hubballi’s KitturRani Channamma Circle
and Dharwad’s Jubilee Circles. The flyover will be constructed over 12.8 kms — 5.8 kms near theChannamma Circle
and 7 km at the Jubilee Circle. The plan will not, however, not damage theKittur Rani Channamma
