Alankar Pandian and Kaarthekeyen Santhanam to co-produce four films
Alankar Pandian of Invenio Films will join Stone Bench Production House head Kaarthekeyen Santhanam as co-producer for Jigarthanda 2, helmed by Kartik Subbaraj. This will be the first of four projects that the production houses will collaborate on, and all of them belong to distinct genres.
“Invenio Films wanted to enter more strongly into the Tamil industry and realised it would be best to collaborate with Stone Bench. We knew them personally, and they also had a set of movies releasing soon,” says Alankar.
He says Jigarthanda 2, set to release this year, is a high-budget movie. “The second one is a Vishal-starrer. The third film is a horror film and the fourth is a Hollywood film. I am the co-producer for it too,” he adds.
Stone Bench appealed to his company as a young entrepreneurial venture based in India. “I have known them for about four years, and they have done a bunch of successful projects. We wanted people who thought outside the box,” shares Alankar.
Kaarthekeyen says his camaraderie with Alankar drove him to sign this four-film deal. “Alankar is a very corporate person, and we started off on a friendly note. It was never about business with us. But once he asked me why I’ve never considered him for any projects,” says Kaarthekeyen, to which he replied that he would definitely reach out when the time is right.
