, while Sudeep’s nephew Sanchith Sanjeev is the co-director. Talking about how this idea came about, Sanchith says, “This began when we got to spend time with Ambareesh sir with regards to the film. We were new to him and hadn’t met him before, so we used to visit him in his residence. These sessions saw him opening up about his journey, experiences and other tales, which was fascinating for us. He is returning to play a full-fledged lead role after years. These stories from him and the anticipation of him in a lead role again was how the idea of this teaser came about,” says Sanchith.
The film will see Ambareesh partake in an extensive schedule from this month, all the way till January, with a second schedule in Kerala with Suhasini Maniratnam and the portions of Sudeep will be shot in February end. Was convincing Ambareesh to play the lead tough? “Not at all. On the contrary, we heard that it was Ambareesh sir who had called Rajinikanth sir when he saw this film and expressed that he wanted to do the Kannada remake of this. So, when we approached him for the film, he already had his opinions on the story and the essence of particular scenes, hence, it ended up that we had to match up to him and get working immediately,” says Sanchith.
