Veteran actor Anant Nag who never fails to wow audiences with his choice of films, will be seen in a unique flick based on magic. Titled

Abracadabra

, the film will be helmed by newcomer

Shishir

Rajmohan and backed by actor-filmmaker

Rakshit

Shetty.

Shishir, a long-time friend of Rakshit, had co-directed the latter in the short film, I

Shot Myself

, a decade ago. “And to direct an actor of the stature of Anant Nag in my very first feature film is an honour. We had a few sittings with him and he liked our screenplay, which, in fact, makes a detour from the usual. Anant sir always brings his own flavour to any role he plays and I can’t wait to see his character unfold,” shares Shishir.

The debutant director shares that the subject will deal with magic. “But the story delves far deeper than just the obvious. This is a story that sees a senior citizen (played by Anant), forced to face some questions of his life that he never dared confront so far. The film also sees three other characters played by

, Siri Ravikumar and Avinash Rai, and all of them including Anant sir, are seen dealing with aspects like seeking validation, a sense of identity and ambition, thus representing a mosaic of their lives,” explains Shishir.

Meanwhile, Rakshit shares that he’s happy to back a project of this sort. “I’ve always believed in nurturing new talent. I liked Shishir’s work even when we did the short film years ago, so I’m confident of what he will bring to the table this time too,” sums up Rakshit.
