exhibitors

and more so for single screen owners. Unable to cope with the high upkeep, several

single-screen cinema halls

have seen bitter ends and resorted to permanent closure, thus enunciating the harsh effects of the pandemic. The city of

According to the latest reports, the owners of the Saraswathi Cinema Hall were undone by the pressures of running empty since early 2020 and had to resort to permanent closure. The iconic Mysuru theatre has witnessed many a packed shows by hosting one blockbuster after another, especially those of

Dr. Rajkumar

and his family. The same reports also state that the owners are contemplating the sale of the land on which the cinema hall stands but no confirmation has been received yet regarding the matter.

The closure of Saraswathi Cinema Hall comes on the back of a series of similar plights of theatres of similar stature. Not very long ago, the owners of the legendary

Lakshmi Theatre

of Mysuru too were forced to put an end to their 72-year-long legacy and shut down operations.
