After French Biriyani and Law, two more
Kannada
films are taking the online route for their release. The maker sof the Kannada films
Bheemasena Nalamaharaja
and Manne No 13 are going to be releasing directly online and the makers announced so through their social media posts.
Bheemasena Nalamaharaja is made by Karthik Saraguru of
Jeerjimbe
fame and the film is backed by the
Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu
trio of Hemanth M Rao,
Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah and
Rakshit Shetty. The film, which has
Aravinnd Iyer, Aarohi Narayan and
Priyanka Thimmesh in lead roles, has been ready for some time and took a while to be made. This announcement comes with a lot of anticipation. This film is a family drama with cooking as a big theme as the title suggests.
On the other hand, Manne No 13 is a horror thriller and it is backed by D
Krishna Chaitanya, who has previously made horror hits like 6 - 5 = 2 and Karvva. This film has an ensemble cast that includes faces from Kannada and Tamil industries. The film, again, has been ready for some time and has raised curiosity, given the makers' track record for making good horror films.
The release announcements also puts the spotlight on the topic of whether these online streaming platforms usually look for big banners or names alone for acquisitions, as opposed to youngsters or lesser known makers. Whatever the outcome of the debate may be, Kannada fans get to watch two new films - one in October end and the other in November, in sync with the festive season.
