Diwali is when the entire house comes alive with joy & laughter: Ragini & Prajwal

Ragini and Prajwal hold Diwali celebrations closest to their hearts because it’s the time when Ragini would come to the Devraj household to be part of the family festivities when the couple was still dating. “Now, it’s been eight years since we got married and all our Diwali get-togethers have been so memorable,” shares Ragini, who has ensured that husband and actor Prajwal’s kurta is matching the colour palette of her sari.

Prajwal remarks how Diwali is one festival when everyone in the household ensures they are home and keeps aside all work. “During Diwali, all of dad’s friends, Ragini’s friends and my friends come over and the entire house comes alive with joy and laughter. There are people on the terrace, in the garden, in the hall, kitchen, and just about everywhere. The kids who come over are usually monkeying around with me,” laughs Prajwal.

DIWALI IS WHEN AMMA COOKS FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY: RAGINI
Prajwal’s mother Chandralekha is an ace cook and during Diwali it’s she who takes over the kitchen, say the couple. “Amma has a recipe book full of traditional recipes and makes something special every festival. What is a must for Diwali is her masale vade and mavinkayi gojju chitranna,” shares Ragini. Prajwal adds that diets are put on hold by all in the family and it’s pure indulgence during the festival

Ragini: Saris are my go-to attire. Something in shimmer always works. The festival is all about lights and shining bright, so dress up in bright and shiny clothes. Make-up can be natural. Prajwal: A good playlist is a must for Diwali get-togethers. Lots of food, tea light candles and chendu hoo (marigold) scattered across the house and you’re set.
