Everest Talkies to screen docu on a rice smuggler
Sourav Sarangi’s, Char... the No-Man's Island, will be screened at the Everest Talkies in Frazer Town on March 27. The entry for the 88-minute documentary is free and will be screened at 7pm.
The story line revolves around Rubel, a 14-year-old boy, who smuggles rice from India to Bangladesh every day. He dreams to go back to school in India but reality forces him to smuggle.
This documentary has won the Golden Kapok Award (China, 2012) for best direction, Best Documentary Award in Chop-Shots, Indonesia, Special Mention in Dubai International Film Festival, UAE, 2012, Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus) National Film Award, India, 2012 among other awards.
