Exclusive: Body God is a quirky comedy with a special message: Prabhu Srinivas

Director Prabhu Srinivas is all set for the release of his film Body God -- produced by Alpha and Omega Productions -- which has Manoj, Guruprasad and Deepika Aradhya in lead roles. "This is a quirky comedy with a special message," says Prabhu, adding, "I got the idea of this subject while making Ganapa. Every filmmaker yearns to do films of all genres. I have previously made action films and I was told that subjects like Body God won't work in Kannada, so I had plans of making it with Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi. He was busy and asked me not to wait. I got busy with other films and when the pandemic struck, and my film Daali was pushed, I chose to go ahead with Body God as it didn't require a lavish budget."

As for his casting, he says, "I knew Manoj from the time he was shooting for O Premave. I met him at a coffee shop and narrated the script, and he readily agreed. It is a challenging role for him. I also have another protagonist who has a slight negative shade, but has positive thoughts. I met Guruprasad on his film set and he liked my offer. This film will show another side of Guruprasad, as he doesn't talk and performs wonderfully silently. I have also acted in the film and I hope the audience likes what we have done."

So, what are the USPs of the film? "One highlight of our film is a unique fight sequence composed by Ravivarma master, which involves a corpse fighting. Incidentally, our film happens to have the last song that was recorded by Puneeth Rajkumar sir. It is a promotional song. We are releasing Body God between two big films. But I am confident, because the audience always supports good cinema," signs off Prabhu.
