Filmmaker Jayathirtha

is known for his raw, realistic and intense love stories. One witnessed this in films like Olave Mandara and Beautiful Manasugalu. The director returns into this space with his upcoming film

Kaiva

, which features actors

Dhanveerrah

and

Megha Shetty

in lead roles.

“The film is set in 1983-84 and it has the backdrop of the Bengaluru Karaga festival. We captured the mood and details of the festival this year to understand the essentials, and we will re-create the same when we actually film. Unfortunately, we cannot use the live locations as a lot of the area has changed over time,” reveals Jayathirtha.
The filmmaker reveals that he has chosen a real-life story as the base for this romantic drama. “The story I narrate will move from April 1983 to April 1984. We are also going to incorporate some real incidents that happened at that time, which includes a building mishap at Kapali theatre during the screening of

Bhakta Prahalada

, the fire at

Gemini Circus

and even the World Cup win. We will showcase how these incidents impact the lives of the protagonists. While the story is real, I will be taking creative liberties to add that element of drama,” shares Jayathirtha.
