Catch Ganesh as new-age Preetam in Mungaru Male 2

became one of his biggest career successes. Audiences loved it and had been hankering for a follow-up film. Today, that wish gets fulfilled, when

Mungaru Male 2

, produced by EK Films, hits screens. Ganesh is Preetam again, but according to director Shashank, this is not the character that audiences are familiar with from the original. This time around, the actor embodies a swankier, new-age version of the character that is apt for the times we live in, and enables younger generations to relate to him. The filmmaker also ensured that the heroine, Neha Shetty, got a better deal in his sequel, compared to the screen time the leading lady in the original got. And the story has a beautiful mix of a love story and an emotional bond between a father and son, with none other than V Ravichandaran playing Ganesh's dad in the film.
But besides Ganesh's character, one of the biggest USPs of the original was the music by Mano Murthy with lyrics by Jayanth Kaikini. And Mungaru Male 2, says Shashank, does not disappoint on that front either, even though there were intial apprehensions in industry circles about having a 'massy' music director like Arjun Janya onboard. 'The gamble, though, has paid off and people have appreciated the tunes he created. It helped that we had Jayanth as lyricist again,' says the filmmaker, adding, 'In a nutshell, Mungaru Male 2 is Preetam's Prem Kahaani 2016.'
