Hemanth M Rao recreates that 70s look for his next film Kavaludaari
There has been a lot of buzz around director
Hemanth also reveals how the team used old lenses that dated 30-35 years from Puneeth’s collection. “We wanted to give the 30-minute sequene a very different visual texture, where these old lenses owned by Puneeth’s family were of great help. Their production house is like an institute to the Kannada film industry, given how they have always been ahead of others in terms of getting the best and latest equipment of the time. This helped us in procuring the lenses that helped us in achieving the look that we were gunning for in colour. Otherwise, these lenses are rare to find and also are pretty expensive to procure,” says Hemanth.
The team has apparently finished shooting for over 50% of the film and plan to resume shooting for the same in January.
Hemanth M Rao
’s second film Kavaludaari, especially because of its ensemble cast and also because of Puneeth Rajkumar backing the film. Hemanth shares the look of two characters, Mr and Mrs Naidu, who are central to the film as the entire narrative is based around them. Actors Sidhartha Maadhyamika andSamanvitha Shetty
essay these roles. “Mr and Mrs Naidu’s story is set in the 70s. Mr Naidu works for the government. They are involved in a crime where the repurcussions are felt to this date. This is the case that is being investigated by the characters essayed by Rishi and Ananth (Nag) sir. We wanted to create an authentic look and flavour of that era, for which we scoured through many of the team’s family albums to understand the dressing and fashion styles. Our stylists Indira and Vinaya got the styling to the T, while Sidhartha even put on weight to look his part,” says Hemanth, who adds that these are the characters around which the story ofKavaludaari
is built around.Hemanth also reveals how the team used old lenses that dated 30-35 years from Puneeth’s collection. “We wanted to give the 30-minute sequene a very different visual texture, where these old lenses owned by Puneeth’s family were of great help.
